How To Change The Ip Of G1100 Fios

  • #1
I accept two routers with the aforementioned IP address. I need to modify the FIOS router IP (g1100) to something else. It's currently 192.168.1.1. Someone mentioned I should go to the Domicile/Office section and modify it there, but when I exercise it says:
"IP Addresses: The Device's IP address should non be in the range of the IP pool"
when I endeavor to modify it to 192.168.1.2. I think it has something to exercise with the "Starting time IP Address:" and "Stop IP Address", but I don't know what to put in here. Can someone tell me exactly what to put in at that place if I try to change it to 192.168.ane.2? I want to make certain I can log into the routers new IP without a problem, or without resetting information technology. Am I on the right track?

What's the other router, and what are you trying to do?

Uhh, thank yous helpful-bot, but ... the G1100 (Verizon FIOS version), does non take a NULL password.

OP, expect on the sticker on the side of the router, for the admin password for your router.

Ok, are we all reading the same OP? It sounds like he has two devices that default to 192.168.1.x for the internal subnet.

The OP is saying he logs into the g1100 and tries to alter it to 192.168.one.two, but the g1100 says no because it'due south in the DHCP pool.

My question to the OP is why mess with the chief router? What's the other devices?

You can always accommodate the g1100 DHCP to fit your needs. But I would get out it every bit .i, and brand the other device .two

For my ain confg at home, my DHCP pool is .200-.254, and my network devices are statically assigned addresses starting at .1

.1 - router
.ii - wap
.3 - client bridge

Etc...

I have 2 routers with the aforementioned IP address.
Ii routers means 2 DHCP servers by default. That would exist one too many for one subnet.

If the g1100 has DHCP server on and should have, and then the other device should non.
If the other device configuration is changed anyway to disable its DHCP, why non modify it's IP too?
The g1100's DHCP'southward range should compress to avoid overlap with static address of the other device.

Scenario B:
OP might have a chain of routers. The g1100 DHCP hands out address from its puddle to the other router's WAN-port and so that router sees two distinct subnet's, both with 192.168.ane/24. That, of course, is a serious error. (Double NAT of a chain ain't nice either.)
The problem description does not exactly support B to exist the case, but does not exclude it either.

Thank you for the replies. I found out I could but plug the router into the estimator and I would be able to log in there. I inserted 192.168.1.1 and it took me to the admin page. I didn't know I could do that.
